About Connaught Water Lodge

Connaught Water Lodge is a Freemasons Lodge warranted under the United Grand Lodge of England in the Province of Essex and was founded on the 14th of August 1946, as a result of 5 freemasons becoming acquainted whilst being members of the Air Raid Precautions Department of Chingford Borough Council during the Second World War

Our lodge takes it's name from Connaught Water, Chingford, which is an 8 acre stretch of ornamental water opened in 1883 which itself was named after the Duke of Connaught, who was the first Ranger of the Forest.

These days our membership is quite diverse and we think of ourselves as a happy blend of manual, blue and white collar workers, aged between late 30's to over 80 (ish)

As well as our 4 regular lodge meetings and our regular Monday evening practice (referred to as Lodge of Instruction) each year we also organise a few social events as "charitable fund raisers"

During 2014 to 2015 year our small lodge of 16 active members donated £1,700 to McMillan Nurses, £1,700 to the Guide Dogs and £500 to South Grove Primary. And last year (2015 to 2016) Help for Heroes received £2,000 The British Heart Foundation £2,000 and Leukemia Care £200

We would be very pleased to welcome enquiries from like minded people who are interested in joining our lodge
